3 line drawing examples

DC Batman comics

Batman comic pages are very iconic and is known by everyone. The lines show movement as the main character is fighting off the enemies, also the water and the logs are given movement as their is a lot going on. The viewer can understand the nature of the comic page because of line. They can understand batman is kicking someone or running because of the lines showing movement. The lines also show effects, it shows a bright explosion like image to show the impact, which helps the viewer understand what is going on. If no movement lines where shown or explosions and impacts weren't there. The comic page would look very motionless and wouldn't give the same effect to the reader.

Santa Cruz skateboards
The Santa Cruz skateboard graphics are very crazy and mad, which portrays the image of the skating scene. The viewer of their art attack video can understand the the character is a skater, he has hit his head and is having some dream which involves the character progressively getting more and more scared as the video goes on. You can tell this by the facial expression get more detailed as the fear grows. The media used helps get the story across better, compared to a comic book style because the media used is modern and I feel it helps the viewer understand the meaning behind the skate culture as well as the company.

The Screaming hand has become an iconic image for the Santa Cruz company and for skating as a whole. The viewer can instantly understand this piece as it is weird and mad. Meaning they will be able to relate it to the skating scene for its freestyle feeling and crazy originalities. The colours and the lines express the skate culture because of the bright colours. This would have been created as a screen print in 3 main separate layers. The first layer would be the blue hand, then the black shading to give shape the hand and then the tongue. This piece has been created on skateboards, snowboards, top, shoes and many other materials. This has become an iconic image for the skate scene.

Iron Maiden
Eddie the head

Iron Maiden are a classic rock band which are very loud and a bit mad. Their cd cover help explain their style of madness. nearly all of their cd covers feature Eddie and it shows dark, scary, madness which helps the veiwer uderstand what kind of a band they are and their look. The font that their name is in is very solid and stand out to veiwer. Although their name is very straight, their cd artwork is very free and slighty abstract. Their artwork is very similar to Santa Cruz's graphics in that they also have very mad designs. The colours used are very dark which makes the veiwer understand what kind of a band they are.
